This morning our pilgrimage group had Mass in the crypt of St. Peter’s Basilica, just a few feet away from the tomb of St. Peter. At Mass, Fr. Tom talked about Jesus picking an unperfect man to build his Church. Despite all his mistakes, Peter followed Jesus and even followed him to his death.
Fr. Tom encouraged us to ask if we have encountered Jesus on the pilgrimage yet. Jesus wants to encounter us. Are we opening our hearts to embrace the graces and be changed?
We also had the opportunity to have breakfast on the top of the cupola of St. Peter’s, visit the Vatican museums and go on the Scavi tours (more on that later). And at the end of the night we celebrated with gelato!
