Catholic Digest

Thank you for your interest in writing for Catholic Digest and CatholicDigest.com !

Catholic Digest is a subscription-based, print publication that publishes nine times per year (January/February, March, April, May, June/July/August, September, October, November, and December). CatholicDigest.com is the print magazine’s website that is frequently updated with exclusive web-only content and content from print issues.

Catholic Digest offers daily support for everyday Catholics who want to enrich their personal faith lives as well as bring a Catholic perspective to their life, work, family, and relationships.

We nurture our readers’ personal spiritual lives with resources for prayer and the sacraments, but our Catholic faith is a gift meant to be shared. In addition to personal prayer support, we give our readers the ideas, tools, and inspiration they need to embolden their Catholic faith and inspire them to bring that faith to their families, workplaces, and communities. We offer a Catholic perspective on contemporary issues that is relevant and meaningful.

We support our readers in three main parts of their faith lives:

Catholic Digest offers daily support for prayer, meditation, and reflection throughout the month. Daily prompts to pray, spiritual reflections, and articles about the fundamentals of our faith tradition are a concrete way to encourage readers to engage in an authentic prayer and sacramental life.

Our readers care deeply about their families, their parishes, and the communities in which they live. Catholic Digest supports these important communal connections with advice and inspiration for work and relationships from a Catholic perspective.

The Catholic Church is a global family. We encourage readers to enhance and enliven their faith with news from the Church around the world. Profiles of celebrities and charities around the world, doing good things inside and outside of the Church, offer hope and inspiration. News from the Vatican, with words and prayers from the pope, keeps readers connected with the Church at large.

Queries submitted must be strongly focused on a definitive topic, and hold a national appeal. Print features are approximately 1,500 words. Web articles are approximately 1,000 words. We follow Associated Press style, Catholic News Service style, and our own house style.

If you want to write for us, please familiarize yourself with our magazine, our website, and the kind of material we publish. We do not accept reprinted material. Please tell us if your submission is simultaneously sent to other publications or websites.

Due to the large volume of submissions, Catholic Digest regrets that it is not able to accept or acknowledge unsolicited submissions, or any submissions sent by post mail. Professional writers who have previously been published in other magazines or newspapers may send a query letter, along with one to two relevant published writing samples, to queries@catholicdigest.com.

For feature assignments, we prefer queries that summarize your approach to the topic, telling us what sources you will use and what interviews you have planned. Make your idea stand out with a new take on a perennial topic. Tell us, specifically, what makes your take on the topic uniquely useful to Catholic Digest readers. Send to queries@catholicdigest.com.

Seasonal material and topics keyed to the Church’s liturgical year should be submitted at least six months in advance.
