In our divided and polarized times, Jesus’ message in this Sunday’s Gospel comes out a perfect moment. He reminds us that “if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.”

Later in the same Gospel passage, Jesus tells us that we are his brothers and sisters when he says, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

How can we be a more unifying and loving people? Jesus gives us the answer: By doing the will of the Father. This week make an effort to be a good neighbor to someone, lend a helping hand where it is needed, or offer a compliment or an encouraging word. In other words, be Christ to others.
