  • Thanks for this Connie! It is so wonderful to see folks out there trying to "do good" in the world. So often all we hear is the negative, it is nice to hear the positive for once. This young man is quite an inspiration!

  • Connie, I am Stephanie's daughter in law and just want to thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful and kind article. It makes my heart smile that all of John's hard work is being recognized by so many different people. He is such a wonderful person, as I'm sure you can imagine any kid raised by Stephanie would be, and deserves to be recognized for his huge heart! Thank you again.

  • Everyone should be proud of John's athletic acheivements and especially his selfless, charitable work. Finally, the admirable role model he is for young people. It is not only commendable, it is badly needed in our country.

  • I am blessed to be John Baker's mother-in-law. John and our daughter's love and devotion to each other has always encircled their family, friends, students. (John, his wonderful wife, and I all taught at St. Isidore School in Danville, where Emily Baker is currently an awesome teacher!) John is a role model beyond definition. Our family is blessed to have him and the Bakers in our lives. I know John would be so honored and humbled to be named the Roberto Clemente award winner. I also know that regardless of the voting outcome, John will continue to "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." That is who he is. Michael Fryer
