  • Colleen, you do bring back memories! We moved around a lot growing up, my father was a carpenter who followed the work, but we almost always lived somewhere in the summer where we could grow a garden. Some of my best memories are of picking veggies I helped plant, tend, and harvest. Thanks for the memories!

  • I have been following your work for sometime now, as well. I agree with mom. Sorry to expose the bias :)

  • So the gardening thing must be contagious to SMCs this year. I have a thumb black enough to kill bamboo, but went to an herb class and planted a small herb garden. I've managed to keep them alive a whole week. My next project is to start a proper compost pile so I will have good rich soil for next year's garden. I am taking it slow, too afraid to try herbs and veggies this year. Best of luck with your garden.

  • Love the horticulture article! I'll be praying for a bumper crop of whatever you've planted and that the time working in the garden will bless your precious family. Keep writing!!

  • You are truly gifted and I am not biased! I have a black thumb and kill house plants too. If the garden doesn't work wait until one of your children get interested in gardening! We had so many tomatoes from John's garden in our backyard that we were giving bushels away
