  • A friend asked me for articles that explain the spiritual or religious dimension of NFP. She is non-Catholic and using it because it's natural and is now intrigued. There's Humanae Vitae itself of course, but do you have popular articles you learned from or that you think are especially well expressed?

  • Transferring Kathleen's question from yesterday here: Maybe I should wait for NFP day, but in case I don't get back here tomorrow - how much effect can I expect the weather to have on my temperatures? I've been attributing a string of unusually high temperatures to the fact that it's been in in the 90s for the past 2 weeks (and we don't have air conditioning). Is that valid? My temps have dropped the past 2 days, despite the temperature outside remaining high, so I'm wondering if maybe I was wrong about that? Or could my body just be adjusting to the summer heat?

  • Rebecca, Have you searched the websites of the Couple to Couple League or One More Soul? Both have some great resources on this topic & might have something that appeals to your friend from a natural & spiritual (though not specifically Catholic) approach. Praying that she is open to seeing the beauty of God's design in the human body & for marriage as expressed by the Church through her seeking.

  • Hi Kathleen, I'd definitely take the heat into account for the rising temps - happened to me a couple of years ago when the heat just got too much.

  • To follow up on Patricia's suggestions, I was going to offer two specific titles: From One More Soul, a cd "Prove it, God...And He Did!" by Patty Schneier; and from Couple to Couple League--(although others may carry it as well) Janet Smith's "Contraception--Why Not". I think that may be in more than one format, but I'm not positive. Also, at www.catholicmom.com there is a whole section of archived nfp articles by Sara Fox Peterson under women/health/nfp. Many of those also bring in the spiritual or religious dimension as well.

  • Is there NTF for women who have stopped having their menstral cycle?

  • Do you mean for a woman who has entered menopause, or for a woman with irregular cycles, but still within the time-frame of normal fertility? Since menopause is associated with the bodily changes that lead to a loss of fertility as we age, I suppose NFP at this point would be more for keeping track of bodily changes as an eye to health, versus trying to conceive or space the birth of children.

  • For women who have entered menopause. Can one get pregnant then?

  • Rebecca, I find the posts on Iusenfp.com to be very comprehensive regardless of religious affiliation.
