  • This is great Kerry! I know how hard Centering Prayer can be, so many distactions! Sounds like you are growing spiritually, though, so good for you! The imagery of the scenery is beautiful!

  • I'm like you in the way you try things. I've found that on my walks with the dog, we are enjoying the Seasons, and Scenary of the area and I find I can pray the rosary and not come home until I'm finished. My dog enjoys the long walks and it gives us both peace and exercise. Try it on one of your runs.Focusing on the prayer while walking is very peaceful.

  • Praying is us talking to God; meditation is us listening for God's response. I'm not familiar with centering prayer, but in yoga, I've learned to sit still in silence, to acknowledge the thoughts in my head, but to not attach to them. I just note them and let them pass on by. Same with sounds and other distractions: take note and let it pass on by while I focus on breathing and emptying myself so that I may be filled. Inevitably, everything else drops away and I feel the presence of the Divine within and am filled with love. Beautiful.

  • Great article, Kerry. Thanks for sharing your experience. I know that I struggle with the same types of distractions when I go to adoration. Keep on praying! :-)

  • Thanks Kathy, praying the Rosary during a run sounds like it will help keep me moving forward, physically and spiritually. Rose, I'm glad to hear that meditation has been so fruitful for you. Tim, great to see you on here! Thanks for the kind words of encouragement!
