  • My husband and I teach NFP: Standard Sympto Thermal method for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. I can honestly say that by using NFP, our marriage is stronger.

  • Ya know, I always thought people were crazy for saying NFP strengthened their marriage. We always, always used NFP as the right/moral choice, but I never found it bonding or anything like that. Recently, though, I've realized there's nothing quite like knowing my husband loves me enough to wait patiently, 10 - 15+ days per month, not complaining or pressuring me. We saved ourselves for marriage, and it felt good to know he loved me enough to wait for me then... and it feels good to know he loves me enough to wait for me (in a different way) still!

  • Have to say I can't agree that it's making our marriage stronger. To the contrary, frustrations are high and I resent it. And no, we are not newlyweds, and we already have eight children.

  • sorry to Anon for the frustrations/resentment. we used NFP for over 20 years, 7 little-ones over the 18 year span; nfpandmore.org has an online book {NFP: The Complete Approach} possibly some of the formation/Bible/Church/Catechism/witness chapter and chapter 1 can help w/the spiritual-side of NFP ; the world surely needs your prayer, sacrifices and witness but many never get any spiritual formation on NFP - only the "method" and Bl. JPII says it must be taught in a moral context. hope you are doing symptothermal and maybe cervix and doing full ecological breastfeeding - these all help w/less abstinence; God bless 2013 for you
