  • Is it Christmas break yet? (Please?) When does school let out in your neck of the woods -- and when do you start up again?

  • For my son's preschool, next Friday is his last day before the break, and he will return on Friday 1/4. The public schools probably return on Wednesday 1/2.

  • The kids get out Dec 21 and come back Jan 7. It is soooo close to Christmas.

  • We are in until the 21st and then return on the 2nd. It isn't so much school that gets me, but the endless concerts (band, choir, carols, etc.). January is so boring, why can't they schedule these things for January? We might actually welcome the diversion then.

  • Does anyone have any DVDs or Cd's they like for Math addition facts or any other subjects that might be good for a 1st grader?

  • Marie: I just read a blog post from a homeschooling mom who uses You Tube a lot for homeschooling. I think the blog was Simple Homeschool, if you want to check it out. I'm sure there are probably You Tube math videos.

  • Marie, we used to have a LeapFrog video called Math Circus that our girls enjoyed. It might be what you are looking for, but I'm afraid I don't know if it is still available. Good luck! Flash cards have also been helpful in our house for addition facts.
