  • Welcome, everyone! In case you missed it or are new to Coffee Talk, here is a link that explains its purpose and our commenting standards: From the link: "We all know that comment boxes often don't reflect human nature at its best. Let's keep it uplifting here -- a model of what Christian conversation can be, and a place where if a non-Catholic or a struggling Catholic were to stumble upon us, he or she wouldn't be turned off by the way we speak to one another. That means different perspectives and even disagreements are fine. There's not one right Catholic way of doing everything and we have so much to learn from each other. At the same time, since written comments can easily be misunderstood, before you post a comment, imagine yourself saying it to a friend, in that friend's living room, over coffee. That's the spirit of Coffee Talk."

  • Not a marriage related post, per se...but asking for prayers for several children in our Catholic homeschool group who will soon be Confirmed & for the intercession of their Patron Saints: Anthony (St. Joseph Moscati), Daniel (St. Joseph the Worker), Garret (St. Francis of Assisi), Kyle (still deciding on a Patron Saint), & Sarah (St. Therese of Lisieux). Thanks!

  • Rebecca, thank you for the remider. This is such a nice place to get help or advice, especially for many of us who live far from family and in rural areas. It is disheartening when the cutting comments come in. I agree that we need to imagine we are talking to a friend in out living room. Thanks for the reminder!

  • Yes, thank you Rebecca. It is so easy for comments to get misinterpreted. People (myself included) write when they're in a hurry and choose wording that isn't always clear, and it's sometimes hard to assess the tone accurately without the benefit of facial expressions, body language, vocal intonation, etc. I'm particularly thankful that this site is committed to eliminating the comments that are intentionally hurtful. As Nadine says, this is an important support network for some of us who don't have a good network of Catholic moms in person.
