Former NFL wide receiver and coach Danny Abramowicz has created a television show for EWTN Global Catholic Network. CROSSING THE GOAL uses a sports show format to encourage men to get into spiritual shape and offers real solutions to the spiritual challenges they face (October 8).

NBC’s new drama CRUSOE, based on Daniel Defoe’s classic novel, launches with a two-hour premiere starring Philip Winchester as Crusoe and Sam Neill as his mysterious mentor Jeremiah Blackthorn (October 17).

FRONTLINE “THE CHOICE 2008”
examines the personal and political biographies of John McCain and Barack Obama (PBS; October 14).

Hallmark Channel’s original telefilm LADIES OF THE HOUSE stars Florence Henderson, Donna Mills, and Pam Grier as three women who undertake a church project — renovating a dilapidated old house — that cements their friendship and revitalizes a congregation (October 18).

To help viewers prepare for the mandatory conversion from analog to digital television in February 2009, Norm Abram and Kevin O’Connor of “This Old House” offer guidance and tips in GET READY FOR DIGITAL TV on PBS (October 1).

MetroCatholic, Inc. recently launched its first electronic news site at DFWCatholic.org. While focusing on the Dallas/Fort Worth area, the site provides an outlet for daily Catholic news occurring around the world.

The extraordinary life of college football hero Ernie Davis, the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy, is chronicled in THE EXPRESS (October 10).

The release of BILLY: THE EARLY YEARS coincides with the 90th birthday of beloved preacher Billy Graham. The coming-of-age drama traces Graham’s journey from an earnest young man at the crossroads of faith and doubt to the moment of decision that launched one of history’s most influential evangelists (October 10).

In the fantasy-adventure CITY OF EMBER, two teenagers race to unlock the mystery of their underground metropolis when the lights start to flicker (October 8).

The documentary MORNING LIGHT follows 15 young sailors as they race in the TRANSPAC open-ocean sailing competition, a grueling 2,300-mile test of skill and character (October 17).

Sue Monk Kidd’s critically acclaimed novel THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES, set in 1964 South Carolina, comes to the big screen with Dakota Fanning portraying a 14-year-old with a troubled home life who is taken in by three sisters and immersed in the world of beekeeping (October 17).

THE VISITOR is both a humane character study and commentary on America’s post 9/11 immigration policy. Richard Jenkins stars as a professor who befriends the Syrian musician and Senegalese jewelry maker he finds squatting in his New York apartment (October 7).

Jia Zhang-Ke’s award-winning STILL LIFE maps changes wrought by the massive Three Gorges Dam project on those living alongside China's Yangtze River, 1 million of whom will be displaced when it's complete. (October 14). CD
